James Arthur Goodwin, 91, of Pampa, died April 11, 2016 in Pampa. Services will be 10:00 AM Friday, April 15, 2016, at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Barry Owens, associate pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Friday, April 15, 2016, at Lieb Cemetery, with military honors courtesy of the U. S. Marine Corps. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Goodwin was born August 10, 1924 in Wichita Falls to Carl Benjamin and Mrytle Cecil Goodwin. He started to school in Pine Tree. He gave his heart to the Lord at the age of 10 and was baptized at First Baptist Church in Terrell, and lived in Iowa Park for a time. James was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps, enlisting when he was 17 years old. He spent a lot of time in and around Solomon Island, and was active duty for four years, and served in the reserve for six years. James was a hospital volunteer for 25 years. Survivors include his wife of sixty eight years, Wenona Williams Goodwin of the home; daughter, Mary Felten of Orr, Minnesota; three sons, Jimmie Carl Goodwin and wife Rita of Iowa Park, Rocky Goodwin of Denver, Colorado, and Tracy Goodwin and wife Dena of Amarillo; brother, Bobby Goodwin and wife Marie of San Angelo; two sisters, Patsy Bainum and husband Danny, and Carleta Fernandes and husband Rick, all of Amarllo; eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; and special friends and neighbors, Orville and Billie Williams.
