Lela McKenzie

Lela McKenzie, 100, of Amarillo, died May 2, 2016 in Amarillo. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at Liberty Cemetery in western Carson County, with Pastor Barney Railsback, of Erwin Road Baptist Church in Amarillo, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors in Pampa. Mrs. McKenzie was born March 12, 1916 in Amarillo. She married Lloyd McKenzie in 1955 in California. He preceded her in death in February of 1981. Lela had been a resident of Amarillo for twenty years, moving from Falon, Nevada. She was a homemaker and attended Amarillo Baptist Church. Lela enjoyed line dancing with the Amarillo Senior Citizens. Survivors include two sisters, Anna Mae Newby of Lawndale, California, and Pat Martin and husband Henry of Amarillo; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Lela was preceded in death by eight brothers and five sisters.
