Plesant “Plez” Meadows, 86, of White Deer, died May 8, 2016 in Pampa. Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, May 13, 2016, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Dale Meadows, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery with military honors courtesy of the U. S. Army. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Meadows was born July 25, 1929 in Hall County to Plez and Hattie Meadows. He had been a resident of White Deer for over sixty years. He married Clarice Jewel Schaef on June 4, 1950. She preceded him in death on December 8, 2015. Plesant was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was employed by Williams Brothers Supply for many years. He served as a dedicated member and fire chief of the White Deer Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years. He served as city councilman for the City of White Deer, and also served as Carson County commissioner. Plesant enjoyed fishing, gardening and especially spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include a daughter, Bonita Milligan and husband Randy of Pampa; a son, Roger Meadows and wife Melinda of Edmond, Oklahoma; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law; four grandchildren, Zach Meadows and wife Kacee, Candace Kirby and husband Stephen, Rachel Cohen and husband Braden, and Bart Cathey; and five great grandchildren, Kynleigh and Kayleigh Kirby and Logan, Hunter and Sawyer Meadows. Plesant was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Dan Cathey; a great granddaughter, Leah Meadows; and his parents. The Meadows family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Nguyen. He fought so hard for both Clarice and Plesant the last couple years. We should all be so lucky to have a physician that demonstrates this level of patient care, commitment, patience, and compassion. The family would also like to thank the staff at the Meredith Place of Pampa. They welcomed both Clarice and Plesant and took care of them just like family during some challenging times that both of them faced. Their unwavering kindness and care will always be remembered.
