John Scott Porter, 43, of Stillwater, Oklahoma, died June 8, 2016 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, June 18, 2016, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel in Pampa, Texas, with Rev. Dr. Jerry R. Lane, pastor of United Methodist Church of White Deer, Texas, officiating. Military honors are courtesy of the U. S. Air Force. Cremation will follow the services under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mr. Porter was born September 8, 1972 in Dumas, Texas. As a young boy, his family moved to Amarillo, Texas, where he attended schools and graduated from Tascosa High School in 1991. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the U. S. Air Force where he was stationed in Germany. After his discharge, Scott met and married Dani Hall on December 5, 1997 in Amarillo. He worked in his early years at Freeman’s Flowers and then Sherwin Williams for several years, before transferring to Stillwater in 2011. Scott liked to fish, and work on and race his car. He will be remembered as a loving son, husband, father, brother and uncle, and will be greatly missed by family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Dani Porter of the home; a daughter, Alyssa Hubbell of Amboy, Illinois; his father, Johnny Porter of Amarillo; a brother, Brian Porter and wife Tammie of Amarillo; a grandson, Charlie Clark of Amboy, Illinois; his maternal grandparents, Wes and Barbara Longan of Pampa; one nephew, Eric Porter of Amarillo; one niece, Ashley Porter of Amarillo; and his three dogs, Roscoe, Emily and Gizmo. Scott was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Longan; and his paternal grandparents, James and Martha Porter.
