Phletis Arlene McGaughy, 98, of Pampa, died June 26, 2016 in Amarillo. Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at Memory Gardens Mausoleum, with Pastor Richard Bartel, associate pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. McGaughy was born July 19, 1917 in Gray County. She was a lifelong resident of Pampa, graduating from Pampa High School in 1935. She married H. L. McGaughy on December 18, 1935 in Wheeler. Phletis was a homemaker and worked in the food service industry at Heard Jones and the Coronado Inn. She loved to sew and crochet. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Survivors include her son, Gary McGaughy and wife Phyllis of Galveston; her daughter, Joann Ward and husband Randy of Mineola; two brothers, Glenn Day of San Angelo and Bill Day of Dallas; a granddaughter, Melissa Kimbley and husband James, Jr. of Amarillo; two grandsons, Michael Ward of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Larry Ward and wife Dawn of Rock Spring, Wyoming; two great grandsons, Jeffrey Campbell of Omaha, Nebraska, and Mac Ward of Rock Spring, Wyoming; two great granddaughters, Hannah Kimbley and Phallon Kimbley, both of Amarillo; and several extended family members.
