DeAnn Williams, 62, of Miami, died June 24, 2016 in Dallas. Services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at First Baptist Church in Miami, with Rev. Aaron Groff, DeAnn’s nephew and Baptist minister, and Rev. Dennis Williams, pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, at Higgins Cemetery, with Rev. Dennis Williams, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Williams was born March 24, 1954 in Friona to Weldon and Juanita Dickson. She met Carson Williams at Higgins in 1977. They married on January 21, 1978 in Hereford and resided in Higgins for 14 years to start their family; first with a set of twin girls born in January of 1980, and later a son born in March of 1984. They moved to Miami in 1992 where she worked for Roberts County as the assistant tax collector under Susie Johnson in 1993. DeAnn ran for the office of chief tax assessor/collector, taking office on January 1, 2005, and holding that office up until her death. DeAnn enjoyed counted cross stitching, which she passed on to her daughters, crocheting, going to NASCAR races, and trips with Carson along with other family and friends. She loved to watch her kids and grandkids play ball, from Little League to Junior High and on through High School. DeAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Weldon and Juanita Dickson; a brother, Richard Dickson; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Woody and Vivian Williams. Survivors include her husband Carson Williams of the home; her twin daughters, Tamara Heiskell and husband Preston of Tishomingo, Oklahoma, and Debra Shewmake and husband Joey of Miami; a son, Preston Williams and wife Hether of Miami; a stepdaughter, Christy Featherston and husband Bob of Gatesville; eight grandchildren, Tre and Gavin Shewmake, Kayde and Kreed Heiskell, Garrett and Bailey Featherston, and Chandler and Asher Williams; and a great grandchild on the way, who loved their Maw-Maw very much. She also leaves behind a brother, Randy Dickson and wife Joyce of Round Rock; and many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
