Virginia Gray

Virginia Gray, 87, of Channing, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2016 in Pampa. Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Highland Baptist Church in Pampa with Pastor Paul Nachtigall, officiating. Burial will be at 3:00 PM Wednesday at Channing Cemetery, under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors in Pampa. Mrs. Gray was born July 18, 1928 in Borger. Virginia married Vinnie Gray on December 31, 1949 in Dalhart; he preceded her in death on May 18, 1996. She was a resident of Channing since 1949 coming to Pampa in 1998. Virginia was the chief program assistant for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service now known as the Farm Service Agency retiring in 1986. Virginia was a member of the First Baptist Church in Channing. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, being in her kitchen and reading the paper. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, H.P. and Racine Ward, a son, Henry Louis Gray in 2008 and a sister, Ramona Ward. Survivors include a daughter, Joan Gray-Soria and husband Anthony of Pampa; two sisters, Sylvia Clawson of Borger and Solange “Maxine” Rafferty of Pampa; three grandchildren, Kathrin Sprouse, JR Gray and Tony Soria; four great grandchildren, Vinson Gray, Chris Sprouse, Nathan Sprouse and Kaitlynn Sprouse.
