Betty Lee (Malcolm) Farnsworth was welcomed to this beautiful world on September 7, 1929 in Canadian, Texas and peacefully said goodbye to it on July 22, 2016 in Amarillo, Texas. Memorial graveside services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Fairview Cemetery, with Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor of Central Baptist Church, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Born to Paul and Leone Malcolm, Betty enjoyed growing up with her big sister Neta Jahnel and younger siblings, Ruth Beckel, Dick Malcolm, and Dan Malcolm. On April 9, 1950, she married the love of her life, Bill Farnsworth, and together they raised two daughters, Barbara and Cindy, in a cozy house on Tignor Street in Pampa, Texas. Known to many who loved her as sweet "Betty Boop," she will be remembered as someone who loved Jesus, fishing, camping, and a good BBQ. She was a woman with a gift for turning simple flowers into stunning arrangements and she was a force to be reckoned with on the bowling lanes. In her later years, she loved crocheting snowflakes to pass out to her family for their Christmas tree decorations, completing puzzle books, and singing in the choir at her home, The Clairmont, in Amarillo. She'd often call just to leave a message to remind someone she loved them. Her parents, sisters, and dear husband of 41 years preceded her in death. Left to cherish many precious memories are her little brothers Dick (Lola) Malcolm of Odessa and Dan Malcolm of Divide, CO., daughters Barbara (Alvin) Belflower of Amarillo and Cindy (Don) Zumstein of Groom. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren; Randi (Steve Celaya) Belflower of Amarillo, Carrie (Jacob) McKean of Midland, William (Jessica) Zumstein of Midland, Eric Belflower of Amarillo, and Daniel Zumstein of Guymon, OK. Of special delight to Betty were her 5 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Cora, Cooper, Alea and Aydin who remember and love their precious MiMi as someone who always seemed to have a DumDum sucker in her purse. Donations may be made to the place where she was so kindly cared for in her last days, Kirkland Court Health and Rehab Center in Amarillo, Texas.
