Juanita Elva "Nita" Reeves Evans

Juanita Elva “Nita” Reeves Evans, 88, of White Deer, died August 6, 2016 in Pampa. Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at First Baptist Church in White Deer, with Rev. Alan Wilson, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at White Deer Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mrs. Evans was born August 20, 1927 in Seminole, Oklahoma, to John Hollis Reeves, Sr., and Della Edna Leerskov Reeves. She was a 1945 graduate of Pampa High School, and attended West Texas State College in Canyon. Nita married Brian Edward Evans on March 13, 1948 in Wheeler. They made their home in White Deer where she was a longtime member of First Baptist Church. She was a loving homemaker and devoted her life working alongside her husband with their farm and ranch. She will be remembered for decorating her home and entertaining her family during the holidays, her love of needlepoint, and her involvement in community activities, such as G.A’s at First Baptist Church, Girl Scouts and Daughters of the Pioneers. Nita loved nature, especially butterflies, birds and her many pets. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Nita was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, John Hollis Reeves, Jr.; a son-in-law, George Truett Borden; a sister-in-law, Shirley Evans Kelly and husband Clifton Kelly; and a brother-in-law, Lonnie J. White. Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Brian Edward Evans of the home; two daughters, Deborah Borden of Clovis, New Mexico and Nancy Blake and husband Bob of San Antonio; a son, Calvin Edward Evans and wife Diana of Canyon; six grandchildren, Candice Weaver and husband Chad, Kimberly Davy and husband Justin, Kristen Chastine and husband Parquer, Brian Blake and wife Aimee, Cynthia Blake, and Terry Lee Chandler, II and wife Tara; six great grandchildren, Lauren and Rhett Weaver, Calvin and Finley Chastine, and Kambree and Xaylee Chandler. She is also survived by four sisters-in-law, Julia Reeves Welker, Nancy White, Carolyn Carpenter and husband Phil, Barbara Browning and husband Jeane, and numerous nieces and nephews. We have been blessed by an extended family, Jan and Hop Britten of Groom, and caregivers Peggy Ward and Atha Burnett of Pampa. Nita especially loved her grand dogs, Tia, Bella, Scout, Dude and Ladybird. Special thanks are extended to Accolade Home Health Care, BSA Hospice of the Southwest, and Dr. Richard Bechtol for his many years of kindness to our family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials are made to First Baptist Church, PO Box 337, White Deer, Texas 79097; or the White Deer Cemetery Association, PO Box 433, White Deer, Texas 79097. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors in Pampa.
