Doris F. Johnston, 86, of Pampa, passed on August 8, 2016 in Pampa. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, August 11, 2016, at Fairview Cemetery, with Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Johnston was born November 29, 1929 in Pampa to Albert L. and Lula M. Taylor. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church and a member of Professional Business Women’s Sunday school class. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Wanda L. Barbee. She is survived by a son, Marshall J. Johnston of Houston; a brother, Travis R. Taylor and wife Judy of Pampa; a sister, Vickie S. Willis and husband Gerry of Roanoke, Virginia; and five nieces. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the group of ladies who so lovingly cared for Doris through her final years. While her final few years here with us were not exactly what she had envisioned, she is now sitting out on her new front porch with Grandma and Grandpa and Wanda, looking out on a yard with not a single weed to be pulled or blade of grass out of place and her mind is clear again and she can just sit and enjoy. She deserves it. The family request memorials to BSA Hospice Care of the Southwest, 6600 Kilgore Dr., Ste. 110, Amarillo, Texas 79106; or Alzheimer’s Association, 110 Mesa Park Drive, Suite 250, El Paso Texas 79912. The family will be at the Taylor residence at 1826 Grape in Pampa, and will also receive friends from 6:00-7:00 PM Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
