Raymond Cox, Jr., 57, of Pampa, died August 8, 2016 in Pampa. Services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, August 12, 2016, at Hobart Baptist Church, with Rev. Lewis Ellis, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Cox was born July 20, 1959 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. As a young boy, his family moved to Pampa where he attended school, graduating from Pampa High School in 1977. After high school, he enrolled in TSTI and then worked for Ingersoll Rand and then Celanese for 18 years. He later worked for Conoco Phillips, and at the time of his passing, he was employed by Enable Mid-Stream in Wheeler. Raymond married Melinda King on November 11, 1989 at Coulter Road Baptist Church in Amarillo. He enjoyed working on his cars and tractors and caring and feeding his cattle, but his greatest joy was being with his family. He enjoyed attending all his children’s and grandchildren’s school and sporting events. He also loved his dogs, Buddy, Bandit, and Viper. Raymond was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elna Mae Cox in 2011; his mother-in-law, Wynell King in 2000; and several aunts and uncles. Survivors include his wife, Melinda Cox of the home; two sons, Raymond Cox, III and Brandon Cox, both of Pampa; his father, Raymond Cox, Sr., of Pampa; a brother, Mike Cox and wife Sherry of Pampa; two grandsons, Bryson Cox and Cameron Cox, both of Pampa; two nieces, Michelle Shedd and husband Logan, and Jennifer Petroski, all of Pampa; a nephew, Jon Cox of Pampa; and numerous great nieces, great nephews and extended family. Memorials may be made to Hobart Baptist Church, 1100 W. Crawford, Pampa, Texas 79065; or to a charity of choice. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 PM Thursday, August 11, 2016, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
