Betty Dale Mitchem, 56, of Pampa, died August 18, 2016 in Pampa. There are no services scheduled at this time. At Betty’s request, her body was donated to Texas Tech School of Medicine in Lubbock. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Mitchem was born January 25, 1960 in Amarillo where she attended Caprock High School. She was a cashier at many convenience stores and retail shops. She was also a seamstress. Betty married Jennings Lewis “Buddy” Mitchem, Jr. in 1993. He preceded her in death in 2003. She had been a resident of Amarillo until moving to West Virginia in 1996. She returned to Amarillo, and then later moved to Pampa in 2011. Betty was a Baptist. Betty was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy Johnson and Mark Johnson. Survivors include two daughters, Twana Garretson of Pampa and Rachel Ivy of Amarillo; a son, Jennings Lewis “Trey” Mitchem, III of Amarillo; three sisters, Fay Tow of Amarillo, Phyllis Fisher of Anderson, South Carolina, and Julie Schreck of Houston; seven brothers, Danny Johnson, Jesse Johnson, Tooter Johnson, Charlie Johnson, Bill Johnson and Willy Johnson, all of Amarillo, and Richard Johnson of Georgia; eight grandchildren; and her companion of the last twelve years, Tony Sands of Pampa.
