Ira Everett Potter, 98, of Pampa, died August 23, 2016 in McLean. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, August 27, 2016, at Memory Gardens Cemetery, with Pastor Kyle Ohsfeldt of Grace Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Potter was born December 29, 1917 west of Kingsmill to Hayes and Carrie Davis Potter. He married Leta “Doodle” Murphy in 1945, and she preceded him in death in December of 1984. Ira was a Seabee and a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving during World War II in the South Pacific. The family wishes to thank Sheppard’s Crook and McLean Care Center for their care and loving kindness of Ira. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Bill, Henry, W. C. “Dub,” and Garland Potter; five sisters, Edna Mae Cardin, Betty McMahon, Loretta Rose Moore, Alcidene Dunlap and Ruth Potter; and his parents. Survivors include two sons, David Potter and wife Cathy of Pampa, and Dennis Potter and wife Crystal of Perryton; three grandchildren, Justin Potter of Dallas, Tony Scott and wife Elaine of Granbury, and Jan Newman and husband Dave of Niceville, Florida; four great grandchildren, Holly Albert and husband Jason of Pampa, Derik Couts of Niceville, Florida, and Devin Scott and Kari Schlak and husband Jordan, all of Springfield, Missouri; five great great grandchildren, Destiny and Delaney Mears and Deegan Albert, all of Pampa; and Everett and Ehrsson Schlak, both of Springfield, Missouri.
