Mrs. Carolyn Foss Smith died peacefully in Katy, Texas on September 13, 2016 at the age of 83. A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, September 24, 2016 at First Christian Church of Pampa, with Dr. Jeff Knighton, pastor, officiating. A reception will follow the services. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Carolyn’s life. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Carolyn was born on February 21, 1933 in Borger, to Richard Arthur Foss and Emma Lucille Dunaway. She graduated from Borger High School in 1951 and West Texas A&M University in 1965 with a degree in Speech Pathology. She married Price T. Smith in 1952, the love of her life, a civil engineer in 1952. After moving to Pampa, Carolyn began working for Pampa I.S.D. as a speech pathologist. She retired to spend time with her three grandchildren and travel with her husband. Carolyn was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority, the Pampa Senior Citizens and the Retired Teachers Association. She volunteered in many ways locally in Pampa. Carolyn and Price were active and dedicated members of the First Christian Church of Pampa for more than 60 years. Carolyn was later recognized as an Elder Emeritus for the church. She was passionate about her faith and spreading the love of Jesus. Upon the death of her husband on March 8, 2011, she moved to Katy to be close to her children and grandchildren. Carolyn is survived by her son, Richard B. Smith and wife Jennie, of Katy; and her three grandchildren, Erich Temilton of Huntington, West Virginia, Emily Rebekah of College Station, and Elliott Hale of San Marcos. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, 1633 N. Nelson Street, Pampa, Texas 79065.
