Marvin L. Slaymaker, 80, of Pampa, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2016 in Pampa. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, September 26, 2016, at First Christian Church with Rev. Jeff Knighton, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at McGill Cemetery in Potwin, KS. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Slaymaker was born April 21, 1936 in Marion County, KS and graduated from Potwin High School in 1954. On May 24, 1952, he married Mary Jane Minard in Potwin, KS. She preceded him in death on June 26, 1999. Marvin went to work for Cities Service Oil in 1964 at Satanta, KS and was transferred to Pampa in November of 1973. He joined Cabot Industries in 1976 and retired in 2001 after 40 years of service in the natural gas industry. Later that year Marvin married Johnnie Price on May 3 in Las Vegas, NV. He was a Charter, Lifetime member of the Elks Club, a Deacon and an Elder of First Christian Church. He was preceded in death by a brother L. J. Slaymaker and a sister Helen Morgan. Survivors include his wife, Johnnie of the home; 3 daughters, Sherry Slaymaker of Lakewood, CO, Julie Slaymaker of El Reno, OK and Geri Shufelberger of Pampa; 3 sons, Kerry Slaymaker of Enid, OK, Nick Slaymaker of Noble, OK and Mike Price of Pampa; one sister, Joyce Austin of Edmond, OK; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. The family will have a visitation on Sunday, September 25, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
