Marvin James Allison, 80, of Pampa, Texas passed away on September 29, 2016 in Pampa. Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, October 1, 2016, at Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ, with Rodney Tedford, minister of Avenue T Church of Christ of Temple, and Keith Feerer, minister of Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Allison was born in Pampa, Texas on November 20, 1935 to Monte C. and Frona Alexander Allison. On June 15, 1956, Marvin married Carolyn Jo Russell in Pampa. Marvin and Carolyn were blessed with two daughters, Leslie and Angie. This family has enjoyed much joy and happiness over the past 60 years. Mr. Allison retired as Superintendent of the Kerr-McGee Hobart Ranch Cryogenic plant after 35 years of service. He was then employed by Titan Specialties for 8 years. Marvin was truly a jack-of-all-trades and could do just about anything. He built his own smoker/grill and was a great cook. Some of his specialties were frying catfish, making popcorn, and homemade ice cream. Marvin had his own way of doing everything and it wasn’t finished until it passed the Marvin Allison inspection (even if someone else was doing it). Even after Marvin was diagnosed, he insisted that he needed to build a sunroom to link the house to the garage and he did it! Mr. Allison was a life-long member of Mary Ellen and Harvester Church of Christ where he served as deacon. He was a member of the Pampa Boat and Ski Club for many years. He served on the Board for the Hidden Hills Senior Golf Association. Marvin and Carolyn spent much of their free time at the lake skiing and entertaining. They played volleyball, soccer and especially enjoyed golf. Mr. Allison was preceded in death by his parents, Monte and Frona Allison, his brother and sister-in-law, Monty and Virginia Allison, his mother and father-in-law, Ridge and Bessie Jo Russell, and his brothers-in-law, Bill Russell and Mark Russell, and his son-in-law, Scott Smith. Left to treasure Marvin’s memory are his loving wife, Carolyn; his beloved daughters, Leslie Smith and Angie Moad and her husband Chuck; his grandchildren, who he absolutely adored and of whom he was extremely proud, Chris Epps and his wife Carily, Jerad Epps and his wife Ashley, Madison Moad, Cheryl Moad, Michael Moad, and Jennifer White; great-grandchildren, Maggie and Hallie Jo Hernandez, Emery and Easton Epps; and his brother’s children, Randy and his wife, Deb, and Rebecca Allison. Marvin lived his life humbly before God and in His service. He will be missed beyond measure. The family would like to thank Interim Hospice, and nurses Kory Dunn and Sue Daugherty for their loving care of Marvin. Memorials may be made to Mary Ellen and Harvester Church of Christ, 1342 Mary Ellen, Pampa, Texas 79065. Visitation will be from 5:00-6:00 PM Friday, September 30, 2016, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
