She attended school in Sweetwater, graduating from high school in May of 1947. Theresa married Wilber Ray Nabors on July 27, 1947 in her home in Sweetwater. She remembered the first time she saw Wilber. She and her step aunt were at a neighbor’s house and he asked her step aunt (who was about the same age as Theresa) to go to the movies with him. She told him she was busy that night, but Theresa wondered why he hadn’t asked her, because she would have gone with him! The next week, Wilber asked Theresa on a date, and the great love story began! Wilber and Theresa loved doing everything together. They could talk all day, every day about the same stories and love every minute of it. For 40 years, they lived the dream of living on a farm in Sweetwater, Oklahoma. Their children were the proudest accomplishments of their lives. They loved their children and spouses, their grandchildren and spouses, their great grandchildren and their spouses, and she was so pleased to be a great-great grandmother. Wilber and Theresa loved to travel, visiting a lot of beautiful places. She loved rocks and taking pictures, which sometimes got a big ribbing from Wilber! They loved to serve in their church in Sweetwater. Theresa taught Sunday school for 27 years in Sweetwater. Sunday school parties were some of their fondest memories. They loved to see all the families having fun together on the farm. Theresa attended college at Sayre Junior College and Southwest Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma from 1961-1963. She received her Master’s degree in 1964. She started college when her children’s ages ranged from 4-11 years old. She said that she typed her term papers with four kids hanging around under the table! Teaching was her passion and he loved her job. Theresa taught school in Weatherford, Oklahoma, Denver, Colorado, Pampa and Wheeler. She loved to sew, cross stitch, crochet and quilt, but she especially loved to dig in the dirt. She always told everyone that if she died while digging in the dirt, to hose her off and put on her lipstick before calling for help! Theresa made so many wedding dresses that she could have started her own store. Everyone loved her pies, cakes, cookies and hot rolls, and don’t forget about the flip! Theresa was preceded in death by her husband Wilber in 2010; her oldest son, Larry Ray Nabors in 2014; her parents, Albert Curtis Hardy and Willie Allen Hardy; her stepmother, Lucille Hardy; a sister, Twila Posey; and two brothers, Alva Hardy and Bob Hardy.
