Marie Hassler

Marie Hassler, 90, of Amarillo, died October 17, 2016 in Amarillo. Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, October 20, 2016, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel in Pampa, with Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor of First Baptist Church of Pampa, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa, under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mrs. Hassler was born August 12, 1926 in Leslie, Arkansas. She married Ray Hillhouse in 1944. They resided in Missouri for most of their marriage. In 1957, she married Otis Hassler and he preceded her in death in March of 2006. Marie had been a resident of Amarillo since 1999, moving from Skellytown. Marie was a homemaker, and she loved to quilt, garden and can foods from her garden. She was preceded in death by one son, Wilbur Lee Hillhouse on July 4, 1964; a grandson, Hank McWilliams; two sisters, Leota Smithee and Evelyn Vanderpool; and three brothers, Leon Kimbrell, Cleo Kimbrell and Clifford Kimbrell. Survivors include three sons, John Hillhouse of Amarillo, Clarence Hassler of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Lee Otis Hassler of Capitan, New Mexico; four daughters, Mildred Wrigley and husband Bill of Pampa, Linda Sadler of Abilene, Kathy Schaefer and husband Marc of Rio Rancho, and Mary McWilliams of Fritch; a sister, Clessie Ferris of Pampa; 21 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 29 great-great grandchildren.
