Dorothy Ione Petree Davis Riehl, 93, of Tyler, died November 15, 2016 in Tyler. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, November 19, 2016, at Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Pampa, with Rev. Rick Parnell, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Dorothy was born November 16, 1922 in Potosi to Robert Fred and Effa May Petree. She married James Clark Davis on May 7, 1940 in Lovington, New Mexico. He preceded her in death on September 17, 1967. She later married Glenn Harold Riehl on September 11, 1972 in Houston. He preceded her in death on September 30, 1990. During Dorothy’s lifetime, she wore many hats. She was a welder during World War II, helping build planes for our forces. She was a waitress, hairdresser, owning her own salon, instructor at a cosmetology school, managed a bowling alley, restaurant owner, apartment manager, real estate agent, and managed bingo parlors for non-profit organizations. But most importantly, Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. She was a very giving and loving person, always helping others. Dorothy lived for several years in Pampa, but spent the last 43 years of her life in the Tyler area. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Irene James and husband Gene of Pampa; two granddaughters, Jennifer Irene Dorsey and husband William (Bill) of Bullard, and Heather Elizabeth Close and husband Kenneth (Kacey) of Denton; five great grandchildren, Brandon Christopher Dixon of Great Falls, Montana, currently serving his third tour of duty with the U. S. Air Force, Melissa Danielle Dixon of Henderson, Ashton James Dorsey of Bullard, Ansel Davis Close of Denton, and James Derek Davis of Tyler; a step great granddaughter, Jinger Pajestka of Round Rock; a granddaughter by marriage, Patricia (Patty) James of Temple; a daughter-in-law, Heather Davis of Melissa, and her children Josh and Anna; one half brother and two half-sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents; her step father, Earnest Foster; a son, James Mark Davis; a grandson, Clark Wesley James; two brothers and two sisters. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to a charity of choice.
