Yvonne Scrimshire

Yvonne Scrimshire, 84, of Pampa, passed away on December 3, 2016 in Pampa. Services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, December 9, 2016, at Memory Gardens Mausoleum, with Rev. Vondel Stevens, pastor of St. Paul United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Yvonne was born February 9, 1932 in Blanchard, Oklahoma to H. G. and Florence Grace Gilpatrick. As a young girl her father was in the oil and gas industry and they would travel often for work. Yvonne lived in various states which included: Oklahoma, Louisiana, Texas, and New Mexico. Eventually in 1951 she moved to Pampa where she later met E. H. Scrimshire. They wed on April 16, 1954 in Clovis, New Mexico and this year they celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. Yvonne wore many hats in her lifetime. She worked as a flight attendant, nurse, and a self-employed owner operator of Scrimshire Drapery and Scrimshire Gifts and Sports Wear. She was longtime member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and she was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. When Yvonne wasn’t working she loved the arts & crafts where she painted china and oil paints. In her retirement she finally got to relax and travel with her husband, spending a lot of time abroad enjoying their time together. Mrs. Scrimshire will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Survivors include her husband, E.H. Scrimshire of the home; a son, Rick Scrimshire of Kingsland; a brother, Jack Gilpatrick and wife Lou of Yukon, Oklahoma; a granddaughter, Anna Scrimshire of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two nieces, Donna Frierich and husband Rudy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Denise West of Ft. Worth; and a nephew, Jay Gilpatrick and wife Shauna of Enid, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents and by an uncle, Jack Hatter. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the funeral home.
