Dovye Belle Rogers Massie, 97, of Plainview and formerly of Pampa, joined friends and family in the comfort of Jesus Christ on December 7, 2016 in Plainview. Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, December 10, 2016, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel in Pampa, with Glen Walton, Church of Christ minister, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa, under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mrs. Massie was born December 8, 1918 in Grayson County. She married George Massie on September 21, 1940. He preceded her in death in 1983. She lived in Sundown from 1940 until moving to Perryton in 1956. She lived in Perryton until 1960 when she moved to Pampa. She resided in Pampa until 2010 when she moved to Plainview to be closer to her family. Dovye worked as the Gray County deputy clerk from January 1961 until 1977. She was the Gray County chief adult probation officer from August of 1977 until 1984, and was the first female chief adult probation officer in the state of Texas. Dovye was an active member of Mary Ellen and Harvester Church of Christ. She was also active in Altrusa International and Beta Sigma Phi sorority as well as helping her husband in the Pampa Optimist Youth Club. Survivors include two sons, Charles R. Massie and wife Sheila of Plainview, and George Philip Massie and wife Judy of Amarillo; five grandchildren, Carol, Chuck, Courtney, Shaun and Jordan; ten great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Carson, Hagen, Hogan, Lauren, Morgan, Hudson, Callen, Ella and Noah; and one great-great grandchild, Dax. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
