Beula Irene Turner Cox

Beula Irene Turner Cox, 84, of Pampa, died January 2, 2017 in Pampa. Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, January 6, 2017, at Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ, with Glen Walton, Church of Christ minister, and Keith Feerer Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ minister, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Cox was born May 24, 1932 in Pampa. She graduated from Pampa High School in 1950, and married Billy C. Cox on June 25, 1950 in Pampa. She attended Clarendon College and Amarillo College. Beula was a member of Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ where she taught Bible classes for 2-year-olds through 5th grade. She was a real estate broker for 17 years, 15 of those years with Quentin Williams Realtors, retiring in 1997. During those 17 years, Beula served on the Pampa Board of Realtors as secretary, vice president and president. She was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother and sister. She was a great friend to many, continually doing for others. Beula enjoyed singing with Bill and friends and was involved in singing schools around Texas. She was involved in her children’s activities, serving as a scout leader and 4-H leader. One of her hobbies was painting, but more than any of these, she was the most loving, caring person anyone would know. Beula loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and loved other people. Survivors include her husband, Billy C. Cox of the home; two daughters, Judy Beasley of Pampa and Toni Lemons of Amarillo; a son, Billy Duane Cox and wife Pat of Granbury, seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Beula was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Cora Turner; two brothers, Melvin Turner and Gene Turner; and a sister, Iola Cunningham. Memorials may be made to High Plains Children’s Home, 11461 S. Western Street, Amarillo, Texas 79118; or Children’s Home of Lubbock, 1712 E. 31st Street, Lubbock, Texas 79404. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 PM Thursday, January 5, 2017, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
