Dora Margaret Crowell

Dora Margaret Crowell, 90, of Groom, died January 2, 2017 in Pampa. Services will be 10:00 AM Friday, January 6, 2017, at Groom United Methodist Church, with Rev. Todd Dyess, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Groom Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mrs. Crowell was born August 19, 1926 in Groom to John and Vernon Fraser. She was a lifelong resident of Groom, graduating from Groom High School in 1943. She married Austin Crowell on June 17, 1943 at her mother’s home in Groom. Margaret and Austin farmed in the Groom area for over 70 years. Austin preceded her in death in 2009. Margaret had been a member of Groom United Methodist Church her entire life. She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play sports. She loved making “scrubbies” for her family and friends, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Survivors include a daughter, Connie Sue Barnard and husband Chris of Seminole; two sons, Jerry Austin Crowell and wife Melissa of Groom, and John Dale Crowell and wife Michele of Pampa; 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Margaret was also preceded in death by her parents, John and Vernon Fraser. Memorials may be made to Groom United Methodist Church, 303 E. 2nd, Groom, Texas 79039. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, January 5, 2017, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors in Pampa.
