Johnnie "J. R." Davis

Johnnie “J. R.” Davis, 81, of Pampa, died January 3, 2017 in Pampa. There are no services scheduled. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Davis was born July 26, 1935 in Davidson, Oklahoma. He married Wanda Behrens in 1954 in Wheeler, moving to Pampa in 1960. He worked for the Pampa Sanitation Department from 1963 until 1973. In 1973, he started Davis Tree Service and later Davis Tire Service, and sold the business in 2003. J. R. loved family and being around his great grandchildren. He was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Survivors include his wife, Wanda Davis of the home; four daughters, Lucille Romero, Regina Romero and husband Felipe, Tonyia Davis and Amanda Smith and husband Luke, all of Pampa; a son, Ray Davis and wife Carla of Pampa; 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; and a sister, Louise Penn of Clinton, Oklahoma.
