Neva Sylvester Thomas, 93, of Houston, died January 3, 2017 in Houston. Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa, under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mrs. Thomas was born on March 29, 1923 in Roganville, to Mary Redd and Buck Sylvester. Neva was fondly called “Nell” by friends and family. She was joined in holy matrimony to Ira J. Thomas on August 28, 1957 in DeRidder, Louisiana. Anyone who knew her knew that she loved and cherished her daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren with all her heart. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira J. Thomas; parents, Mary Redd and Buck Sylvester; seven brothers, eight sisters; a son, Curtis Irvine; a daughter, Nettie M. Irvine; one step-son, Billy Gene Thomas; and one grandchild, Dena Simmons. Neva is survived by her daughter, Terrie Thompson and husband Milton of Friendswood; Grandchildren, Diana Williams and husband Farley of Jacksonville, Florida and Michael Thompson of Friendswood; two great grandchildren, Damara Simmons and Daniel Williams, both of Jacksonville, Florida; two great great grandsons, Dante Wattley and Dalton Wattley; two sisters-in-law, Cleo Spencer of Pampa and Katie Sylvester of Houston; two very special Godsons, Walter Lethermon and McKinley Wilkerson; and a host of relatives and friends.
