Helen Davis Hall, 87, of Pampa, died Saturday, January 21, 2017, at her home in Pampa. Services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 26, 2017, at the First United Methodist Church, with John Curry and Rev. Ruby Moultrie, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Helen was born August 8, 1929 in Wichita Falls to Clifford A. Davis and Gladys L. Davis. She attended the University of Texas where she graduated in 1950. She met her husband, Gene Hall, there and they have been married for 67 years. To that union were born three sons, and she cooked three meals a day for them while they were in school. She also helped her husband, who was in the public accounting business at that time, by posting his clients’ books at home. After the boys were grown, Helen worked in the office with Gene. Helen’s faith was the most important thing to her. She encouraged Gene and their sons to attend Sunday school and church. She also taught Sunday school and served as the chairman of the church’s House and Grounds Committee for many years. She was described to Gene as a “dynamo” by a First United Methodist Church member. Whatever she did, Helen did with all her faith and ability. Helen spent her life loving and caring for her family and friends. She fully met the description of a “wise woman” as set forth in the Book of Proverbs. Helen worked her way through college and realized the benefits of a college education. She spent her time and money enabling others the opportunity to go to college. She was a member of the Twentieth Century Cotillion Study Club since 1966 which affords scholarships and loans to Pampa students through the Opportunity Plan in Canyon. She is survived by her husband Gene of the home; three sons, Steve of El Paso, David and wife Terri of McLean, and Terry and wife Carolyn of Pampa; her sister, Barbara Jean Atkins of Pflugerville; seven grandchildren, Stacie Brainard of Pampa, Matthew Hall of South Burlington, Vermont, Lorin Brownlee of Lubbock, Brodie Hall of Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, Clayton Hall of The Woodlands, Tyler Hall of Dallas and Sara Hall of Hurst; and three great grandchildren, Hanna, Abbie and Landrey Brainard. She will be missed, but we know she is in a better place. The family is thankful for Crystal, Donna, Dora, Victoria, Linda, Brianna, Darlene and Marie, who lovingly cared for Helen during the last ten years as she struggled with Alzheimer’s. Memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church, PO Box 1981, Pampa, Texas 79066-1981; or the Opportunity Plan, Twentieth Century Cotillion Study Club, 504 24th Street, Canyon, Texas 79105.
