Donald Lee (Don) Riddle, 85, of Pampa, passed away Friday, February 10, 2017, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2:00 PM Monday at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Lynn Hancock, pastor of Briarwood Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Don was born on Oct. 10, 1931 in Miami. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War for four years. He owned and operated Don Riddle Machine Shop for several years and worked for Hoechst Celanese for several years until his retirement. Don was preceded in death by his first wife, Melba Jo Riddle, and he later married Marlene Griggs Thornton on Sept. 10, 1994. He was an avid golfer for many years and was a member of the Pampa Amateur Radio Club and the Pampa Rifle and Pistol Club. Don loved travel, camping, building remote control airplanes, hunting, and occasionally shooting an arrow through the gas meter while practicing for big game. Don is survived by his wife, Marlene of Pampa; a daughter, Donna Reynolds of Lake Charles, Louisiana; a granddaughter, Shannon Allar and husband Andrew of Waite Park, Minnesota; three stepchildren, Steven Thornton and wife Ann of Clarendon, Brian Thornton and wife Amy of Wilburton, Oklahoma, and Janet McNeely of Pampa; eight other grandchildren, Lora Thornton, Steve Thornton, Jr., Carl Thornton, Brandon Lee Thornton, BJ Thornton, Mikel Hartley, Landon McNeely and Ashlyn McNeely Dumont; and five step great grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Lenna Riddle, by four brothers, and a sister. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
