Aleena George Roark, 83, of Amarillo, and formerly of Pampa, died February 22, 2017 in Amarillo. Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday. February 25, 2017, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Tim Elliott and Pastor Michael Dyer, her nephews, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Roark was born November 26, 1933 in Mobeetie. She attended schools in Mobeetie and Wheeler. Aleena married Charles George in Wheeler and they moved to Pampa in 1953. He preceded her in death in 2002. She later married Ernie Roark in 2006. He preceded her in death in 2012. Aleena worked at Gunn Brothers Stamp Store, Furr’s Cafeteria and Travis Elementary School. She was a former member of Bible Church of Pampa and Fairlane Baptist Church in Borger. She liked to sew and crochet, and in her later years, she liked to travel. Survivors include her son, Jerry George of Amarillo; two sisters: Nathetta Olsen of Newport Richie, Florida, and Mary Sandlin and husband Verlin of Priddy; a grandson, Ryan George and wife Sandy of Hawaii; a granddaughter, Allison Horn and husband Rusty of Amarillo; and four great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Nathan and Minnie Evans.
