Rev. Jimmy T. Flynn, 88, of Pampa, died February 22, 2017 in Pampa. Services will be 10:00 AM Monday, February 27, 2017 at Central Baptist Church, with Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Rev. Flynn was born September 2, 1928 in Munday. He was reared in Hereford where he attended school. As a very young man, he enlisted in the U. S. Army, serving during World War II and taking part in the invasion of Normandy. After the war, he turned to the ministry, traveling throughout to spread the Gospel. He married Nora Lara on January 7, 1958. In his younger years, he was a professional wrestler and he loved to tell stories on the old-time greats. He served as assistant chief with the Yorktown Police Department for three years, and chief of police with the Granger Police Department for three years. In 1999, Rev. Flynn moved to Pampa where he served at local churches, and he enjoyed singing at the local nursing homes. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Nora Flynn of the home; two daughters, four sons; a stepsister; 10 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, and a half-brother. Memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church, 513 E. Francis, Pampa, Texas 79065.
