Wilma Ernestine Mollett

October 23, 1925 — February 25, 2017

Wilma Ernestine Mollett, 91, of Pampa, departed this world for her heavenly home to be in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 25, 2017 in Pampa. Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Dr. Jeff Knighton, pastor of First Christian Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Mollett entered this world on October 23, 1925 to her parents in Augusta, Kansas, and was blessed with a wonderful life. She married the love of her life, Wilbur Laverne Mollett, on November 24, 1943 in Augusta, Kansas. They were both part of the “greatest generation” during World War II, with Wilbur seeing action with the U. S. Army in Europe, while Wilma served at a munitions plant in Anniston, Alabama. Her work career later took her to Beech Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas, Cabot Corporation in Pampa, and various other companies including Panhandle Eastern in Liberal, Kansas, where she finally retired. She had been a member of First Christian Church in Pampa since the mid 1980’s. Wilma enjoyed bowling and was an avid bowler. One of her favorite things was volunteering for the local hospital auxiliary in Liberal, Kansas and later in Pampa at Pampa Regional Medical Center, where after a total of 3,500 hours, she retired in 2007. However, her penchant for volunteering and serving people continued for some time at Pampa Senior Citizens Center. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Wilbur. Survivors include her daughter, Audrey Meaker and husband Cleo of Pampa; two cousins, Jerry Dieckman and wife Lawana of Wichita, Kansas, and Barbara Kramer and husband Al of Augusta, Kansas; a special friend, Cathy Corn of Liberal, Kansas; and her church family. Her family expresses their gratitude for the professional and kind care Wilma received during her stay at Coronado Healthcare Center. In keeping with Wilma’s love of animals, the family suggests memorials to P.A.W.S., PO Box 2095, Pampa, Texas 79066-2095.
