Eugene Neill Laycock, 83, of Pampa, passed away February 28, 2017 in Amarillo. Memorial services will be 1:30 Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Steve Huckins of In the Garden Ministries of Skellytown, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Laycock was born March 14, 1933 in Collingsworth County to Harold and Onie Laycock. He married Clarene Madora Spencer on November 25, 1955. Neill was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving proudly in Germany as a Corporal. He loved our country. After his discharge, he worked for Pioneer Natural Gas for 29 years. Neill was a great husband, daddy, son, brother, uncle and friend. He was a very special man. He enjoyed life. He loved people and never met a stranger. Neill always had a smile and he was generous and kind. He was always there for his family and exemplified the Christ-like character of a “well done, good and faithful servant” as in Matthew 25:23. Neill was loved very much and will be missed so very much by all who knew him. Neill was a #1 Dad! He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Clarene in 1989; and a son, Eugene Neill Laycock, Jr. in 2012. Survivors include two daughters, Jowannah Kessel and husband Mike of Amarillo, and Mamie Kelley of Lubbock; his grandson, Thomas Neill Kelley and wife Brittany of Burleson; three brothers, Noel Lee Laycock of Amarillo, Ray Laycock and wife Mary Bob of Pampa, and Sonny Sechrist and wife Peggy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; a sister, Betty Combs and husband Brad of Atlanta, Georgia; a niece, Linda Laycock of Pampa; three sisters-in-law, Charlene Spencer and Katrina Bigham and husband Robert, all of Pampa, and Janice Ferguson and husband Jamie of Fort Worth; two brothers-in-law, Don Spencer of Colorado, and Paul Spencer; a special friend, Pauline Gardner of Pampa; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
