Steve Watkins

Steve Watkins, 60, of Gruver, died March 5, 2017 in Gruver. Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, March 9, 2017, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel in Pampa, with Rev. Gary Gumfory, pastor of First Christian Church of Gruver, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Pampa, under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mr. Watkins was born December 19, 1956 in Pampa. He was a 1973 graduate of White Deer High School. He married Paulette Boissenet on October 22, 1976 in White Deer. She preceded him in death on May 29, 2015. Steve had been a resident of Gruver since 1979. He was currently working for DCP Midstream where he had been employed for over 40 years. He enjoyed watching college and NFL football, and he loved being around his family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include a son, Nathan Watkins and wife Jacinda of Amarillo; a brother, David Watkins of Pampa; two grandchildren, Kayden Watkins and Khloe Watkins; five nephews, Chuck Boissenet and wife Belinda and Erik Boissenet and wife Kensey, all of Amarillo, Phillip Watkins of Pampa; Richard Watkins and wife Katie of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Daniel Watkins and wife Stephanie of Weatherford, Oklahoma; 3 nieces, Stormie Blain and husband Rick of Pampa, Crystal Sanchez and husband Matt of Odessa, and Wendy Harris of Dallas; a great nephew, Leif Boissenet; a great niece, Paulette Boissenet; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul “Tink” Boissenet and wife Charlene of Skellytown; and numerous great nieces and great nephews. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Gerry Caylor, 2130 Charles, Pampa, Texas 79065. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 PM Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors in Pampa.
