Lula May Engle, 95, of Pampa, died April 17, 2017 in Pampa. Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Memory Gardens Mausoleum, with Pastor Paul Nachtigall of Highland Baptist Church, officiating. Entombment will follow in Memory Gardens Mausoleum under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Engle was born August 6, 1921 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. She was a 1940 graduate of Briscoe High School. She married Harold Lin Engle on August 4, 1945, and he preceded her in death in 2002. Lula May worked for Douglas Aircraft Company as one of the well-known “Rosie the Riveter” on the P-38 airplane. She also worked at a glass factory. After moving to Pampa, she was an election volunteer for over 50 years, with her last election cycle being completed in 2003. Lula May was a senior regent of the Pampa Moose Lodge #1385. She was a homemaker and loved to embroider, and play cards and dominoes. Survivors include her daughter, Linda Griffis of Pampa; two sons, Larry Engle and wife Donna of Canadian, and Lloyd Engle and wife Estela of San Antonio; three grandsons, three granddaughters, and 12 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Harold Lin Engle, Jr. in 1986; a sister, Marjorie Richardson in 2015; and a brother, Charles Klingensmith.
