Joyice Cotham, 80, of Dallas and formerly of Pampa, was called home by our Lord and Savior on April 19, 2017 in Dallas. Services will be 3:00 PM Sunday, April 23, 2017, at Trinity Fellowship in Pampa, with Rev. Charles Lowry, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Joyice Mae Miller Cotham was born September 12, 1936 in Garden Grove, California. She attended school in Shidler, Oklahoma, where she was a star basketball player in high school. She married Floyd Cotham Sr., the love of her life, on August 22, 1953 in Shidler. Shortly thereafter, she received Jesus Christ as her lord and Savior. For the first nine years of their marriage they moved frequently following the oil industry, which led them to Lefors, Texas. They resided there for twenty eight years, raising their five children. Joyice was a very involved mother. She helped with the Lefors Booster Club, Optimist sports, and served on the Lefors School Board. During that time she also served others as a nurse at Highland General Hospital as well as working for several well-known doctors in the community. She and Floyd Sr. relocated to Pampa, Texas, in 1992 where they enjoyed retirement together. During that time you could often find Joyice helping Floyd Sr. in his shop with wood projects. Joyice had several hobbies. She enjoyed reading, working on cross-stitch, gardening and most of all cooking for family and friends. She took great care in planning family meals ensuring that she prepared everyone’s favorite dishes. Time spent around her table was a gift to all who entered their home. Her greatest passion in life was spoiling her children and grandchildren to whom she was affectionately known as Nanny. Joyice was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Marie Dobbs and her husband, Floyd Cotham Sr. She is survived by one son, Floyd Cotham Jr. of Dallas; four daughters, Rheta Arechiga and husband Javier of Dallas, Vicky Halliburton of Pampa, Stacy Hinkle and husband David of League City, and Howdi Allison and husband Tyler of Panhandle; eight grandchildren, Heather Maul and husband Adam, Micki Acosta and husband Felipe of Pampa, Jessica Arechiga and Dee Walker of San Antonio, Randee Arechiga of Denver, Austin Hinkle of Dallas, Adisson Hinkle and Aaron Hinkle of League City, and Ella Allison of Panhandle; seven great grandchildren, Mallorie Petty, Maddox Nieto, Adrin Acosta, Aliyah Acosta, Braxton Maul, Lexi Maul and Landon Maul all of Pampa; one brother, Rex Miller and wife Jo of Sacramento CA; two sisters-in-law, Phillis Wilson of Pampa and Joyce Peterson of Choctaw OK; numerous nieces and nephews; and family pets, Chula, Nanna+, Emma, Max, Minnie, Harper and JP In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 2000, Dept. 142, Memphis, Tennessee 38101-9908. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors in Pampa.
