Justin Wayne Strickland

Justin Wayne Strickland, 28, of Pampa, passed away April 30, 2017 in Pampa.  Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, May 4, 2017, at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Daniel Ortner, family minister at First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.  Justin was born February 13, 1989 in Pampa to Ken and Sharon Strickland. He was a lifelong Pampa resident, attending Pampa schools and graduating from Pampa High School in 2011, where he was crowned Honorary Homecoming King. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Special Friends group. Justin volunteered for Gray County Appraisal District and the Schneider House. He was involved in Special Olympics where he bowled and competed in track and field events. You could usually find Justin at garage sales where he was always adding to his massive CD and DVD collection. He was also at the Tralee Resale Shop or his favorite restaurant, McDonalds, where he ate regularly and was often seen with his late grandmother, ElDora Willis.  Survivors include his parents, Ken and Sharon Strickland of the home; a sister, Kendra Taylor and husband Beau of Corinth; paternal grandparents, Jerry Strickland and wife Von of Urbana, Missouri; a nephew, Elijah Taylor of Corinth; two aunts, Cela Sanders and husband Joel of Arlington, and Cheryl DeWitt and husband Michael of North Richland Hills; two uncles, Joe Willis and wife Dana of Irving, and Terry Strickland and wife Diana of Midland; special friends, Aly Tatarevich of Amarillo, Summer Tatarevich of Pampa and Haley Smith and husband Matt of Amarillo; many other special friends; and numerous cousins and other extended family. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends, too numerous to list. Justin was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Gene and ElDora Willis; his paternal grandmother, Shirley Meaker and husband Earl. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Special Friends, PO Box 621, Pampa, Texas 79066-0621. The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:30 PM Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
