Wayne Lee Hepler, 90, of Pampa, passed away May 4, 2017 in Pampa.Services will be 3:00 PM Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Pastor Paul Nachtigall of Highland Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery with military honors courtesy of U. S. Navy. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.Mr. Hepler was born May 24, 1926 in Sawyer, Oklahoma, to Pearl Eugene and Addie Inez Hepler. He moved to Melrose, New Mexico at an early age and attended schools in Melrose and Roswell. He was baptized and saved at the age of 13 at First Baptist Church in Melrose, New Mexico. He was a graduate of the University of Louisville and Electronic Lab College at Louisville, Kentucky. Wayne married Betty Elena Murphey on July 16, 1943 in Farwell. They were members of Calvary Baptist Church for many years. They were married for 51 years before she preceded him in death on September 8, 1994. Wayne was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving from 1944 until 1946 as a pharmacist’s mate third class in the medical field. Wayne was a longtime resident of Pampa. He worked in radio, television and electronics for over 45 years until retiring. He owned and operated United Television and Wayne’s Television Service. Survivors include a son, Ronnie Wayne Hepler and wife Vicky of Sierra Vista, Arizona; three daughters, Betty Dianne Wood of Fort Worth, Karen Ann Bridges and husband Bill, and Linda Gail Strovas, all of Pampa; nine grandchildren, and many great grandchildren. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James Elry; an infant baby brother; and son-in-law, Ronnie Wood.
