Betty Lou Hunt Mooney

Betty Lou Hunt Mooney, 91, of Pampa, died May 24, 2017 in Pampa. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, May 27, 2017, at Plainview Memorial Park Cemetery in Plainview, with Brian Mooney and Matthew Neighbors, her grandsons, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Mooney was born August 10, 1925 in Walters, Oklahoma. She attended schools in Walters, and graduated from Walters High School. She married Dennis Oneil Mooney on July 11, 1944 in Walters. They were residents of Hale Center for 53 years. Homemaking was her career, and she was efficient in organization and budgeting. She loved her sunroom plants, collecting cookbooks, crocheting and knitting. Betty moved to Pampa approximately six years ago to be closer to her daughter, and had been a resident of the Meredith Place since her move. Survivors include her son, Robert Mooney and wife Jacque of South Lake; her daughter, Deborah Neighbors and husband Larry of Miami; her daughter-in-law, Lynetta Mooney of Plainview; nine grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, L. B. Hunt in 1969; her mother, Lella Hunt in 1997; her husband, Dennis Mooney in 2001; a son, Roger Mooney in 2014; and her sister, Jaunita Channel.
