Deanna Kay Porter Polasek, 54, of Pampa, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, June 15, 2017 in Amarillo. Services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor, and pastor Darrell Wait of First Christian Church of Dumas, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Deanna was born on November 7, 1962 to Dorothy and Myron Porter, Sr. in Pampa. She was a long-time resident of Pampa where she attended school and graduated from Pampa High School in 1981. She met the love of her life, Eugene Polasek, at a church function in Pampa. Later that year she would reunite with Eugene at West Texas State University, and some months later they would wed in Pampa on December 18, 1982. Deanna and Eugene would follow the ministry living in Odessa and Lubbock. While she was in Odessa, Deanna graduated from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin with a degree in Education. In 1993 they would move back to Pampa where they would reside ever since. Deanna was a character education teacher, girl’s athletic coordinator, and she coached volleyball, basketball, and track at Pampa Junior High School for 16 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pampa. Deanna was a generous and selfless individual who always lit up the room when she entered. Deanna was the world’s best mother and best friend to her children. She was a loving devoted wife and a lifelong soul mate to her husband Eugene and an awesome sister, aunt and loving friend to all. Deanna will always be remembered for her contagious smile and for always trying to make a positive impact on others. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Survivors include her husband Eugene Polasek of the home; a daughter, Stephanie Polasek Nielsen and husband Matthew of Pampa; a son, Jonathan Polasek and wife Rebecca of Canyon; three sisters, her twin Jeanna Porter Zuniga and husband Daniel of Pampa, Cheri Patterson and husband Dan and Jan McCathern and husband Glenn, all of Amarillo; two brothers, Rod Porter and wife Barbara of Lefors, and Mickey Porter and wife Suzie of Layton, Utah; 13 nieces and nephews, numerous great nieces and nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Myron J. “Mike” Porter and Dorothy Viola Stone Porter; her maternal grandmother, Tommie Viola Singleton Stone Grant; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul Eugene Polasek, Sr., and Anna May “Ann” Jones Polasek. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, PO Box 621, Pampa, Texas 79066-0621. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Monday, June 19, 2017, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
