A.C. Malone

A.C. Malone, 83, of Pampa, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2020 in Pampa.

Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor, officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

A.C. was born March 22, 1936 in Marlow, Oklahoma to Estel and Bessie Malone.  He has lived in Pampa since 1942 and graduated from White Deer High School in 1956.  A.C. served in the National Guard from 1958 until his discharge in 1964.  On August 28, 1959 he married the love of his life, Estelle Lunsford in Pampa.  He served as the Gray County Auditor for 28 years and after he retired from Gray County he worked as a salesclerk for Texas Furniture for 13 years.  He was a longtime member of Central Baptist Church and Pampa Lions Club, and a member of the Las Pampas Pond and Garden Club.  He enjoyed working in his yard and tending to his pond, walking at the youth center, and taking care of his family.  A.C. always had a smile and was a people pleaser, he loved being around others and he will be missed.  He is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Lavenia Henderson.

Survivors include his wife, Estelle of Pampa; a daughter, Lisa Mitchell and husband John of Pampa; a grandson, Ajay Mitchell of Pampa; 3 granddaughters, Heather Morris of Amarillo, Lindsey Johnson of Arlington, Virginia, and Kelli Jo Long of Burleson; 6 great grandchildren; a sister, Naomi Necaise and husband Chuck of Hobbs, New Mexico; and several nieces and nephews.

A special thanks Interim Home Health and Hospice and Pampa Nursing Center for their love and care over the past few years.  Also, a special thank you to Naomi Blackburn for her care and compassion of A.C and Estelle.
