Following high school, Achsa went to Cosmetology school, after receiving her license, she went on to work for several years as a hairdresser. She owned and operated her own beauty shop in Pampa, TX. Achsa’s first marriage was to Jay Kimberlin, they had a daughter Misti in 1962. She later married Dennis Duncan on July 23, 1965, in Pampa, TX. Where they had their son, Barry, in 1966, and gained daughter Alice in 1989. Dennis would precede her in death on October 12, 2024.

Achsa’s and Dennis’ companionship spanned further than just marriage; she would join Dennis on his many travels inspecting gas lines and compressors. Eventually, Achsa decided that she needed to stay home more often to raise their children; however, after the kids were raised, she started working alongside Dennis once again. A time later and after the unfortunate loss of her daughter-in-law, she helped raise her grandchildren during the loss of their mother. Once her grandchildren were grown, she started a new adventure working as a janitor at Hugoton High School. She was well known for her kind soul and giving heart. She quickly became everyone’s “Gram.”

Achsa was a woman with many talents who could turn anything into something great. She loved to collect unique items, had many animals she loved to care for, enjoyed sharing about her Indian background. She was a strong-willed woman who advocated fiercely for her family and anyone she loved. Achsa also enjoyed riding horses, her and Dennis could be found at the rodeo grounds every time they had a playday trying to outdo one another. She also had an open door and heart for anyone in need. She was known for her sweet tooth and love for dark chocolates and was always willing to share her stash to anyone who needed it.
