Addie Laverne Hensley

Addie Laverne Hensley, 90, of Pampa, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 in Pampa.

Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Highland Baptist Church with Pastor Paul Nachtigall, retired minister, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Addie was born February 10, 1933 in Shattuck, Oklahoma to Guy Clifford Hensley and Erma Gantz Hensley. He was saved at the early of 8 in the Baptist Church at Durham, Oklahoma. Addie graduated from Durham High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1953-1955, in the 16th Engineer Battalion, First Armored Division. Addie was employed by Morton Salt Company in Ohio as a Class A Millwright from 1955-1967. He served as financial secretary for the United Mine Workers in Ohio and served on the Cub Scout Council for the largest Cub Scout Pack in the State of Ohio. Addie was instrumental in building the Nazarene Church in Geneva, Ohio. He moved to Pampa in 1967 and began working for Cabot and IRI International until 1987, retiring as a Maintenance Foreman. 

Addie married Norma Schale in 1971 in Amarillo. In 1991, he became a member of Highland Baptist Church, where he was a member of Highland Senior’s Club, and he taught the Adult Men’s Sunday School class for many years. He also served on the church council, pulpit committee, and many other committees through the years. His hobbies were collecting toy tractors and playing his guitar. Addie and Norma spent many happy years traveling with their camper trailer.

Addie was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Linda Henlsey; son, Ronald Hensley; four sisters, Vondell, Wynona, Karen, and Patricia; three brothers, Quinlin, LeRoy, and Ronald; grandson, Darby Schale; and granddaughter, Chelce Henlsey. 

Survivors include his wife, Norma of the home; two sons, Randy Henlsey and wife Kathleen of Oark, Arkansas and Jack Henlsey and wife Daphne of Monett, Missouri; step-son, Mike Schale and wife Kadda of Pampa; brother, Glen Hensley of Rolling Hills, New Mexico; grandchildren, Landon Schale and wife Leona of Prosper, Beth Barnes of Oark, Arkansas, Magen Henlsey, Amanda Hensley, and Emma Kate Hensley all of Monett, Missouri, and Jesten Hensley of Granbury; and seven great grandchildren.

Memorial can be sent to Interim Hospice, 2217 Perryton Parkway, Pampa, Texas 79065 or Highland Baptist Church, 1301 N. Banks, Pampa, Texas 79065.

The family would like to thank Interim Hospice for the love and care they provided Addie. 

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, July 7, 2023 from 6:00-7:00 PM.
