Addie Maye Coates Bland Adkins, 89, of Pampa passed away on December 24, 2018 in Pampa.
Memorial graveside service will at 2:00 PM Friday, January 4, 2019 at Quail Cemetery with Rev. Kyle Ohsfeldt, pastor of Grace Baptist Church, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Addie was born February 15, 1929 in Peoria, Oklahoma even though her birth certificate states she was born in Seneca, MO. When she was 6 weeks old, her family moved to Des Moines, NM, in 1933 they moved to Quail, TX in a covered wagon. Addie attended school in Quail and in 1944 she married John Henry Bland prior to him being drafted. He was stationed in Little Rock, AR. They returned to the Quail community and in 1955 they made their home in Pampa. While in Pampa, she worked at various restaurants and businesses. Addie retired from Meals on Wheels as a cook after 12 years. She loved flowers, gardening, enjoyed sewing, and was a member of Grace Baptist Church. Addie had six daughters, two of them have preceded her in death, Ethel Taylor and Judy Mayne. She was also preceded by two brothers, Walter Coates and Frank Coates; and a sister, Garland Harris.
Survivors include four daughters, Phylis Martin of Jasper, Jackie Thompson and husband Rick of Grove City, OH, Joe Helen Grimes and husband Jeff of Wood River, IL, and Carolyon West and husband Leslie of Pampa; four sisters, Elsie Glazer of Wheeler, Ethel Ferris of Shamrock, Eula Khulman and husband Murl of Bridge Creek, OK, and Sue Woodruff; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
