Anna Frances Shafer Towry, 85, of San Antonio and formerly of Pampa, was called home on February 26, 2022 in San Antonio.
No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Anna was born on August 23, 1936 to Alvie and Exa Shafer. She was a loving sister, mother, wife, grandmother, and friend. Anna and her husband, Max Ray Towry along with her son Michael Eugene Towry, lived life traveling with work until they settled in Pampa in 1966. Anna lived in Pampa for over 30 years working at Jesse’s Mint Mart, Frank’s Grocery, Marie Foundation, and cleaned houses, where she met so many friends. In 2003, she moved to San Antonio to be closer to her family. There she was known to the cul-de-sac as Anna’s snack shack for dogs and the lady that’s always walking.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Michael Eugene Towry; partner, Max Ray Towry; 4 sisters, Velma Clayworth, Mamye Craig, Leona Squires, and Violet Weeks; 5 brothers, Lester Shafer, Louis Shafer, Robert Lee Shafer, Tillman Shafer, and Norman Shafer.
Survivors include her brother, Joe Shafer and wife Wanda of Port Lavaca; grandson, Nate Towry of Austin; daughter-in-law, Cyndi Towry of Pampa; 2 nieces, Sue Watson and Donna Lum; a great niece, Audra Goff and husband Jonathan of San Antonio; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be sent to a favorite charity.
