Athalee Margaret Coburn- Burnett, 71, of Pampa, passed away on January 5, 2025.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 3:30 PM, Sunday, January 12, 2025, at the Priest Park Church of God with Pastor James Shook, pastor, officiating. Arrangements and cremation are under the care of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Athalee will be available for viewing from 5:00 PM -8:00 PM, Sunday at the funeral home.
Athalee was born on November 17, 1953, in California, to Shorty and Archie Mae Coburn. She met Billy Burnett, and they later married and had their three children. They were married over 50 years before he preceded her in death.
Athalee was a wild and impulsive woman who liked to travel and see new things. Through her zest for travelling, she later came to Texas. While in Texas, she first lived in Texline, where she owned and operated her own restaurant “The Café”. Later, Athalee moved with her sister to a farm in Pampa. Atha liked to create extravagant gardens. She also loved to cook, some claiming she had the best food in the panhandle. However, most of all, she was a supportive woman who gave her energy and resources to try to help anyone who was in need,
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Burnett; brother, John Coburn; brother-in-law, Doile Ward; and a daughter, Stacy Adams.
She is survived by two boys, Brent Burnett and wife Mariah of Pampa Tx, and Billy Ray Burnett and wife Linh of Lubbock, Tx; son-in-law, Jimmy Adams of Clarendon, Tx; a sister, Peggy Ward of Shawnee, Oklahoma; a brother, Butch Coburn and wife Mickey of Redding, California; two half-sisters, Alta Horn and Tootie Swift; niece’s, Dawn Little and husband John of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Jeanine Ellis and husband Ed, Tammy St. John and husband Perry, all of California; grandchildren, Shelby and husband Angel, Donnie, Athan, Tanner, Shay, Dalton and wife Alexis, Dillon, Jesse, Staycha, Brixton, Zander, Ava, Steve, Sanna, and Ben.
