Barbara Jean Tumbleson South, 93, of Pampa, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2024, in Fort Worth.

A celebration of life service will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with her son, Bryan South, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory. 

The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM - 9:45 AM on Saturday morning at the funeral home, before Barbara’s service. 

She was born in Kellyville, Oklahoma in 1931 to Alvin Preston Tumbleson and Cleo Harrison Tumbleson. Barbara graduated Madill High School in 1949, where she met her sweetheart, Jerry Lyn South. They married on July 7, 1949, in Fort Worth. They shared over 73 years of marriage before Jerry preceded her in death, in 2022.

Barbara and Jerry moved to Pampa in 1964, where they became members of Central Baptist Church. Barbara was a homemaker and served the church in numerous capacities.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and by a sister, Mary Tumbleson DeVos.

Barbara’s survivors include her brother, Douglas Tumbleson; sister, Martha Jacobs; sons, Eddie Lyn South and wife Yvonne, and Bryan Lee South and wife Denise; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and by three great great-grandchildren.
