Barry Duncan, 58, of Hugoton, Kansas, and formerly of Pampa, Texas, passed away on January 22, 2025.

Barry will be available for viewing from 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Friday and from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM on Saturday, at the funeral home.

Barry was born on February 26, 1966, in Pampa, Texas, to Achsa Aloma Kelley and Dennis Dale Duncan. After some time in Pampa and traveling for his father’s work, the family moved to Hugoton in 1974. Barry graduated from Hugoton High School in 1984. He pursued work in construction and the pipeline industry and later became a heavy machinery operator. After many years of hard work, Barry transitioned to a role as a gas company consultant and inspector, a position that took him across the U.S. He took immense pride in his craft, earning respect for his skill and dedication, and instilled in his loved ones the importance of hard work, pride in one’s craft, and a strong reputation.

Barry lived life to the fullest, working hard and playing even harder. He found his greatest joy surrounded by family and friends, always quick with a joke or prank. Barry loved summers at the lake, fast toys—whether on water or land—and could often be found throwing together a fire, dancing, or singing along to his favorite music. A proud “momma’s boy,” Barry adored his mother and shared a bond filled with love, laughter, and mutual care.

Barry was a country man through and through, embodying the heart and grit of a cowboy. He sought out thrills through dirt bike racing, jet skiing, even skydived, four-wheeling, driving fast cars, like his Corvette, and tinkering with engines. He also had a passion for motorcycles and the freedom he felt on the open road. He loved riding around town in his buggy, golfing, playing with his dog, Patches, and watching action movies, UFC, or the Longhorns play football. Barry also enjoyed playing guitar and always had a way to liven up a gathering, bringing music, laughter, a thrill of adventure, and energy to those around him. Beneath his tough exterior was a man who cared deeply for his family and friends and had an abundance of love to give.

Barry was a proud father to all of his children, and if he cared for you, there was no doubt—you’d likely hear him affectionately call you “Bubba,” a nickname he reserved for the men he held close to his heart.

Barry is preceded in death by his parents, Achsa and Dennis Duncan; his grandparents, Henry Ward and Corrinne Holmes Kelley, and James and Tressie Duncan; his nephew, Dustee Odell; his niece, Tulsa Cullison; and many close friends.

He is survived by his children: Dawson Duncan and partner Melissa, Ashley Duncan, Hazen and Randa Duncan, and Britney and James Martinez; his sisters, Misti Jones and husband Greg, and Alice Wilson and husband Ricky “Bruno”; his uncle, Alfred Kelley; his grandchildren: Carson, Kylah, Kaelynn, Jax, Layla, Hayden, Elliana, Emitt, Aryn, Judah, Benaiah, Gavin, Kai, Amelia, and Olivia; nieces and nephews: Tashina and Matt Cullison, Destanee Bohl, Easton and April Bohl, Ricky Jr. Wilson, April Wilson, Tyler Wilson, and Jeremy and Kim Wilson; as well as great-nieces and nephews: Gavin, Kennadee, Teegan, Taylor, Maverick, Tenleigh, Lakynn, Oaklee, Kinslee, Rhyder, Dashia, Anyssa, Tatum, and Mallory; cousins John Duncan, Terry Graham, Marsha Cockrell, Cliff Kelley, Sherry Hyatt Gray; and many other loving extended family and friends who will cherish his memory.

Barry’s legacy of love, laughter, and adventure will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. We love you, Bubba, and we’ll see you again.
