Pampa

Belem Ruiz Hernandez, 75, of Pampa, passed away on February 5, 2025, at home, with her family by her side.

Funeral mass will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 8, 2025, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Guadalupe Mayorga, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

The rosary will be recited at 5:00 PM, Friday at the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel.

Belem was born on June 8, 1949, in Ejido Jesus Garcia, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Ines and Conception Ruiz. She grew up and attended school in Mexico. She would meet the love of her life, Elijio Herandez, and they later married in 1967. In this marriage, they had seven children and started a beautiful life together. Belem was a committed wife and mother, and she gave everything she had to make her marriage the best it could be.

In 1983, she and her family moved to Pampa, and they would start their new life and became longtime residents. While in Pampa, Belem would spend many years devoting herself to her husband, children, and grandchildren. She also worked hard to become a United States citizen, and in 1988 she achieved that goal; this was an accomplishment that brought her great pride. Although she was proud of being a homemaker, Belem eventually took a job at Kentucky Fried Chicken to prove that she could make an earning as well.

Belem was a godly woman who was confident in her faith. She was also a humble woman who displayed great humility and was great example to all her family. Above all, Belem was dedicated family woman who always made sure that her family had everything they ever needed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Jesus Hernandez, Samuel Hernandez; a daughter, Maria Hernandez; and by a daughter-in-law, Jennifer Hernandez.

Belem is survived by her husband, Elijio Hernandez; four children, Rachel Resendiz and husband Eduardo, Marisol Martinez and husband Juan, Gabriel Hernandez and wife Susan, and Elijio Hernandez and wife Jessica; grandchildren, Vanessa Santos and husband Fidel, Juan Enrique Martinez and wife Karina, Valeria Castillo and husband Edgar, Stella Hernandez, Max Hernandez Aribel Martinez, and Alexa Martinez; great-grandchildren, Aylin, Sebastian, , Juan, Genevieve, Santiago, and Evangiline; and other extended family and friends.
