Bernice Smith

July 11, 1927 — March 31, 2020

Bernice Francis Smith, 92, of Pampa, passed away March 31, 2020 at her home in Pampa, surrounded by her family.

Due to our current health conditions in our community and government regulations for small gatherings there will be a private family graveside service at Memory Gardens Cemetery, with her son, Tommy Smith, officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Bernice was born July 11, 1927 in Portersville, California to William T. and Etta Beals.  She married Floyd “Bud” Smith on October 16, 1946 in Wheeler County.  He preceded her in death on April 14, 1999.

Bernice worked several years for Coca Cola Bottling Company in Pampa; Coronado Inn, and Best Western Inn for 17 years.  She was a faithful member of Carpenter’s Church and enjoyed her church family, gospel music, reading and working with her flowers in her yard.  But her greatest joy was spending time with her family, her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Tommy Smith and wife Becky of Pampa; four grandsons, Austin and Kelly Smith of Edmond, Oklahoma, Trevor and Kelsey Smith of Valley Center, Kansas, Brad and Lizzie Smith and Taylor and Anna Smith, all of Pampa; daughter, Therisa Teakell and husband Tony of Pampa; grandson, Chris and Amber Teakell of Snyder; granddaughter, Pam and Danny Woods of Amarillo; daughter, Carolyn Jacobs and husband Glenn of Pampa; two granddaughters, Kimberly Levens of Fort Worth, and Michelle and Adam Rainey of Amarillo; numerous great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and special friend, Sherry Davis.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Interim Hospice and nurses who took special care of our mom.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hope House, PO Box 2097, Pampa, Texas 79065.
