Betty Jo Brown, 88, of Noble, Oklahoma formerly of Pampa passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, June 25, 2021 in Noble.
Services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, July 2, 2021 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Pastor Joel Osborne, pastor at Fellowship Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Betty Jo Blaylock was born March 13, 1933 in Charlie, Texas to parents Harvey Joe Blaylock and Malinda Elizabeth (Robbins) Blaylock. Betty grew up in Pampa and attended Pampa schools. She later met a young man from Terral, Oklahoma who was enlisted in the U. S. Army. They fell in love and on July 4, 1948 in Pampa, she married “B. T.” Bedford Tunney Brown. Betty and B.T. together raised three children, Milton, Carol, and Michael. For nearly 10 years they lived in the Dallas and San Antonio areas before making their permanent home back in Pampa in 1959. Betty worked for over 30 years as a beautician, owning her own beauty shop, called “A Touch of Class”. While living in Pampa, Betty was a faithful member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She enjoyed activities like bowling, dancing, and fishing. Some other hobbies include crocheting, netting, working with ceramics, and spending time with her family playing games. After Betty retired in 1993, she and B.T. enjoyed taking grandkids to Colorado and New Mexico on vacations. She and B.T. also enjoyed traveling to Alaska and throughout the U.S. visiting national parks. After B.T. passed away, Betty remained living in Pampa for many years. Two years ago, she moved to Noble, Oklahoma with her daughter to be closer to family.
Betty was preceded in death by her father, Harvey Joe Blaylock; her mother, Elizabeth Hill; husband, B.T. Brown; brother, Don Ray Blaylock; and son-in-law, Jim Nuss.
She is survived by her three children, Milton Brown and wife Donna of Clarendon, Carol Nuss of Noble, Oklahoma, and Michael Brown and wife Toni of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, one sister, Mona Weatherly of Nocona; one brother, Duane Hager and wife Mabyn of Hurst; eight grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and a host of other relatives and friends.
