Betty Jean Williams Ireland, 87, of Pampa, passed away March 10, 2019 in Pampa.
Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Pastor Mike Watson, officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Heights Cemetery in Lefors, under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Ireland was born July 6, 1931 to Jeff and Mary Williams in Morrilton, Arkansas on Petit Jean mountain. Betty moved with her family to Lefors in 1933. She attended Lefors schools and graduated from Amarillo Business College. Betty worked for attorney Curtis Douglass in Pampa for a few years, but most of her adult life was spent in Midland where she worked in administration for several oil companies. She was able to travel abroad and lived in Indonesia for five years. She returned to Midland, retired from Texas MHMR in 1997, and after her retirement, she moved to Pampa. Betty enjoyed reading and watching mysteries. She was a member at Hobart Baptist Church in Pampa, and president of Desk and Derrick Club in 1969 while in Midland.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Ireland of Pampa; two granddaughters, Shannon Ireland of Arlington, and Kelly Ebel of Brainerd, MN; two great-grandchildren, Stormy Ebel of Brainerd, MN, and Jasper Ireland of Arlington; and daughter-in-law, Linda Ireland of Odessa. Betty was preceded in death by two sons, Carl Cochran in 1997, and Leslie Ireland in 2015; five brothers and three sisters.
